July 2008

As we all know that Bhole Shankar is a regional movie and therefore only cassietes of music has been released.

I talked to the director of the movie Mr.Pankaj Shukla and his promotional manager Mr.Harish Sharma.Mr Shukla gave me the number of Mr.Sonu marketing manager of T-Series.I asked  Mr Sonu to make the music available at all places.Instead he told me aap boliyen apni jagah ke retailer ko ki woh order de.About CD he said until there is a huge demand its not possible to make it available on CD.

I again talked to Mr.Pankaj  Shukla and told him that without publicity how can demand be created and for publicity I need the songs and I told him that Raja Hasan has such fans that even though they have the Raja song but they will surely by the music to support Raja.

I have even called a Raja fan from Mumbai to buy the cassiete but the problem is in this modern times people even don’t have cassiete players at home .Even if someone has  the player an expert will be needed to record from the cassiete to the computer and then again convert and upload it on net.For a simple computer user it is not possible.

I am trying and hoping that I will sort it out and get the songs sung by Raja Hasan,Mauli Dave and Poonam in a day or two.

Here is a video of the music launch:

Yashoda KrishnaSo friends here we go..Get ready with your dandiya sticks and even if you don’t have sticks get ready to dance to Raja Hasan`s beautiful dandiyaa song Nand Ke Ghar Anand Aayo Jai Kanahaiyaa Lal Ki.Here is the video of the song for you and the video with Raja`s interview while he was recording the song will be uploaded in the evening.

H.S.COMMUNICATION

Mandira Bedi

After proving herself as an actor and an anchor on the small screen, Mandira Bedi is now all set to shake a leg for Star Plus’s special Independence Day show. “This will be the first time I will be dancing on the small screen and I’m pretty excited about it,” Mandira told IANS on the sidelines of an event here organised by Timex watches.

“I’m not a good dancer but I’m giving it a shot. I’m hopeful that my fans will surely like my dancing act,” she added.

Not many people know that Mandira has done an item number for Tamil movie “Manmadhan” in 2004. Her dancing skills were also seen in the 1995 blockbuster “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge” in the song “Mehndi laga ke rakhna” where she matched steps with Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol.

So now what about doing an item number for Bollywood?

Mandira says she is open to the idea but is waiting for the right offer. “A peppy song and a good banner will make a perfect combination,” Mandira said.

The actress, who was last seen on the big screen in Sanjay Gupta’s “Dus Kahaniyaan”, is now all geared up for Pritish Nandy’s “Meerabai Not Out” – a cricket-centric film in which India’s test captain Anil Kumble plays a cameo.

The cricket crazy actress essays the lead role in the film. Her association with cricket started when she hosted “Extraa Innings” during the World Cup tournament in 2003 and 2007 and became known more for her noodle-strapped blouses.

Talking about her role, Mandira said: “In this movie, I eat, drink and sleep cricket. It is all about cricket fans and their love for sport heroes. And this is the first time (Anil) Kumble will appear on screen. It will be a treat to see him acting on the silver screen.”

The actress, who made an everlasting impression with her with long-running soap “Shanti” on Doordarshan, is not interested in doing any more serials.

“‘Shanti’ was a dream debut for me. It was a long series but not a stretched soap drama that we have nowadays. It is so boring for me to be a part of these never ending dramas,” said Mandira, who featured in a negative role in Ekta Kapoor’s “Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thhi”.

Achint Kaur is now essaying the character.

Mandira is mostly anchoring reality shows now. Recently she finished hosting music show “Jo Jeeta Wohi Superstar” and has now replaced Bhojpuri actor Ravi Kishen as the anchor of Zee TV’s reality show “Ek Se Badkar Ek”.

Too much of everything is bad and it came true again, when heavy downpour in Mumbai left actors and directors of shows stranded!! But their never-say-die spirit won and shows reached our living room on time! Read on!!

Every Mumbaikar’s dream of getting respite from the scorching sun came true as heavy rains that started in the wee hours of Saturday morning refused to die down or bring down its shutters and continued for more than 48 hours!!

But Hats off to the dedication and determination of the actors and production houses, as in spite of this heavy downpour they continued shooting to bring our favorite shows on time! After all, ‘Anyone who says sunshine brings happiness has never danced in the rain’…Isn’t it?

The scene to be shot in Humari Devrani was at the Borivili National Park wherein Bhakti and Mohan get lost… While the entire crew was busy shooting in the thick jungle, rain God smiled at them, as a result of which the over-bridge got flooded and they were stranded in the jungle for more than 3 hours. Says Mayur, EP of Hamari Devrani, “We had to stay put in the jungle till the water on the over-bridge got cleared. Our whole schedule got disrupted and we will now be shooting the same sequence elsewhere”.

TV Shows

Grihasti was a show that got hit very badly due to the rains last weekend. The Monday episode had to have a dramatic entry of the new hero Shaleen Bhanot. The unit was supposed to shoot this on Saturday morning at Film City, but they eventually packed up at 2 in the afternoon as the downpour continued. Sunday morning, the cast and crew assembled at 7 in the morning to finish off the scene, but again they were forced to remain under cover. When the weather condition did not improve, a shuffle was made in the telecast and the entry of Shaleen was postponed to Tuesday. Talking about this experience, Rizwan, EP of Grihasti says, “After losing 2 vital days due to rain, we finally convinced the channel and the creative people to shoot the scene in pouring rain, but the problem did not end here; as it was dangerous for the light men to handle the lights and other equipment in the rain bare handed. So they were provided with rubber gloves and footwear to protect against any electric shock. Special arrangements were made to shoot the sequence in the rain and the team went ahead. Shaleen himself who had just recovered from viral fever very sportingly agreed to shoot in the rain and the sequence was finally shot on Sunday evening”.

Moving from the Park scene to Veera Desai Road, the edit suites of Amul Star Voice of India were flooded the whole of Monday, and the EPs were panic-stricken as the Friday episode was not yet ready. Courtesy rains, work got halted for 12 hours..

In the case of Raja Ki Aayegi Baaraat, the huge downpour of rains messed up the tight cut-to-cut schedule. A major fight sequence that had to be shot where Yudhishter saves Rani from goons could not be shot, as a result of which the production house could not meet telecast deadlines.

In Sangam, a very important scene was to be shot in Film City where Ganga tries to commit suicide to unite Saagar-Kaveri. But after the non-stop downpour, the cast and crew could not even reach the shoot point as the approach road had disappeared and the location got inaccessible. Kanksha Jain, Script Supervisor, Sangam says “We had no other way out but to change the venue and shoot the scene in the caves of Chandvili where a temple was set up in real quick time. Later, we shot the scene wherein Ganga tries to kill herself with a dagger when Saagar reaches there and rescues her. The high-intensity drama scene was finally shot after many a hurdle”.

Last but not the least, if rain caused havoc and disrupted the shooting schedule in the above cases, the crew of Sapna Babul Ka Bidaai coincidentally was shooting a song sequence in rain where Parul Chauhan aka Ragini remembers her phone friend and gets romantic. Says Rajan Shahi, Producer and Series Director, “Ironically, we were shooting a rain sequence on 27th when the huge downpour happened. It was a complete nightmare for the production house as we had to shoot in the midst of natural rain as well as the five artificial rain machines too. We could not switch off the rain machine as we need consistency in the rain fall to capture the right image. But the whole cast and crew including Parul enjoyed shooting for the sequence and we actually had a picnic out there”. Cameraman Neeraj Balyan says, “It gets bit difficult to shoot a rain sequence, as we need to take extra care when it comes to lights, the camera position etc. Also, we were shooting in real as well as artificial rain and this made the task tougher. But at the end of it, we are glad to have made it”.

Rithisha PadmanabhMy judgement about Rithisha seems to be correct. I said I see in Rithisha the qualities of Raja Hasan. You can read this comment by a close freind of Rithisha and she loved this site too. Here is the comment by Ranjani Datta who knows Rithisha from childhood:

“Thanks to all people who have made this site accessable to us – ardent admirers of music and its people.

Loved watching Ritisha’s performance. I have seen her from her childhood days. She has always rocked. It was then a child that rocked but now a teenager that still rocks. Innocence has been retained in many ways. Her mannerisms, gestures to humbleness speaks for her.
Good luck Ritisha…make Karnataka proud. We are with you.
Cheers

Ishmeet Home
City residents who had cheered Ishmeet Singh as Voice of India today were in deep grief as the news of his tragic death in the Maldives, by drowning in the swimming pool, reached here late evening. Ludhianvis literally wept at the untimely death of their hero.

Apart from friends, relatives and fans, scores of residents rushed to his house in Model Gram to offer condolences to the parents of the 19-year-old singing sensation. People in disbelief were glued to TV sets when the channels flashed the news.

His father Gurpinder Singh Sodhi and mother Amritpal Kaur were shocked. Huddled in an inner room of their house, they were inconsolable even as a stream of visitors offered their condolences.

His mother and elder sister required medical assistance as they fell unconscious. His father said Ishmeet did not know swimming.

All his young friends were crying in one corner or the other of the house. Visitors broke down when they tried to console them.

Ishmeet had enthralled city doctors just two days ago at a function in DMC hospital. His fans, young and aged, had flocked to seek his autograph. No one had thought that it was his last performance in the city. He had said he would soon return for many functions, but destiny had other plans.

Raja Hasan

An article on our own Raja Hasan including his first ever amazing interview in the leading news website of India where he reveals many secrets of his personal life:

The first thing that strikes you about Raja Hasan is his curly locks… And, of course, his smile.

But the lad who hails from the colourful city, Bikaner, has much more to him than his charming looks – and that’s a vibrant voice that instantly touches your soul. “It is a blessing to entertain music lovers…, bring a smile on someone’s face and spread happiness through my music. And I hope to continue doing that all my life,” says Raja.

A descendant of the erstwhile royal singers of Jodhpur, Raja has been giving stage performances right from childhood, and now is a regular face in a number of TV reality shows. “When I was eight-years-old and giving my first stage performance, I realised that nothing but music will be a part of my life,” says Raja who went on to learn music from his grandfather Allah Rakha Khan and father Rafik Sager.

But, it was cricket sensation Sachin Tendulkar who finally inspired him to leave his hometown and move to Mumbai in 1998 to try his luck in Bollywood. “That year, Tendulkar had scored seven centuries. Looking at him, I used to marvel at his talent. And I thought to myself that if he, despite his height, can smash some of the world’s best bowlers, why can’t I make my name in the film industry? After all, I am taller than him,” he laughs.

After shifting base to Mumbai, Raja had his share of struggle. Of course, success too came his way but it was only after a while. “Meanwhile, I got married and it was my wife Ayesha who really helped me pull through my lean phase. Without hers and my parents’ support, I wonder if I’d have made it.” As his eyes become moist recalling those days, he says, “My mother used to ask me all the time when will I be seen on TV, or the dabba, as she used to and still calls it. By God’s grace, now she sees me almost everyday on it.”

Raja also confesses candidly that life sure has changed for him now. “My phone just doesn’t stop ringing. In fact, now I can say that after all this, strangely, friends have become foes and foes have become friends. Time has changed a lot of things.” However, despite all that adulation and fame, Raja remains grounded, and has his head firmly placed on his shoulders. “I’m enjoying my work, that keeps me so busy. And my free time is spent with my wife and nine-year-old daughter Sanya. No time for parties for me,” he smiles.

While shows keep him busy all the time, Raja is also realising his childhood dream of becoming a playback singer. And he already has an impressive lineup of films like Bachna Ae Haseeno, Chandni Chowk To China, Do Not Disturb, Bal Ganesha II, Sadiyaan and also a Bhojpuri flick Bhole Shankar,to his credit.
